* The Burnout Paradise demo has hit both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network Store, so are we still as hyped about it as we were? * We finish our Rock Band saga in terms of getting new instruments (for now) but is Harmonix, Activision, or Sony the guilty party in terms of a patch for the PS3 version? * Look out English teachers, w00t is now a recognized word in the English language! * Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft answers several pressing questions about Xbox Live, including rationale behind the 100 friends limit. * Nintendo is planning on pulling Wii ads for the holiday season to be "responsible." * They're also offering rain checks at Gamestop on December 20th and 21st. * Then we take calls on the Burnout series in general and Paradise in particular.
* This week we begin with a followup on Gerstmann-gate, straight from Gamespot. * Then we look into Gametap's removal of 70+ games from their catalog via an official post on their message boards. * Then we take a look at two Playstation Network downloadable titles - Beats (PSP) and Pain (PS3). * Check out our Youtube video of this show's theme song playing in Beats! * We also discuss what a bitch it is to download a PSP game off of the PC-based Playstation Store. * The Xbox 360 Dashboard update is out, and has some nice features. * This show was recorded leading up to the SpikeTV Video Game Awards, so our discussion topic (along with the Bobby Blackwolf Show debut of DerrickH as himself) is about awards - do you trust them or not?
* We begin by updating you on our Rock Band struggles - we were offered a free game by EA due to the lateness of the shipment of our replacement instrument, but the email stated the wrong instrument. * Vivendi has purchased Activision to create the new company Activision Blizzard. * And then, the meat of the show is devoted to the recent dismissal of Gamespot's Jeff Gerstmann, allegedly due to advertiser pressure from Eidos over his review for Kane & Lynch. We take a lot of great callers discussing if game reviews are valid and who to trust. * Afterwards we do discuss the Xbox Live 2007 Fall Update set to drop on February 4th. * Also, we receive early indication from a chatter that Gametap is losing 70 games on December 11th...More to come on that one next week!
This was recorded seven days ago - unfortunately due to health issues and technical issues (both pretty much resolved) this was delayed much longer than expected. This will not be a habit. Expect the December 2nd show to be released on Wednesday to get things back on track. * In this show, we give our impressions on Rock Band - what works, and what doesn't. We also give advice on calibrating the lag to get you more lenient timing windows. * The Romantics are suing Activision for their cover in Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80's. Do they have a case? * We also talk a little bit about Mass Effect. * Jeff Minter, designer of Tempest and Space Giraffe, almost gave up on gamers until the booze wore off. * We take calls about Xbox Live Arcade in general and more on the Wii shortages. We have been nominated as Podcast of the Year in the 2007 Xbox Community Awards, and voting is going on RIGHT NOW at Gamertagradio.com (not starting on the 8th as the audio states.)
* Hey, did you check out those All Games Radio gamerpics up on the Xbox Live Marketplace? They're free! * Last week, Microsoft announced Carcassone for free (for 48 hours) as well as Xbox Originals. * They also announced that Live members since 2002 will get 500 free MS Points - but you have to sign up for them. * The NPD Group has relented and will still give out hardware and software sales numbers. * And our big question of the day deals with what is a spoiler - mostly pertaining to Assassin's Creed. (And no, there are NO spoilers for Assassin's Creed given during the show at all. Super Mario Bros spoilers are another story though!) * We also talk a little bit about Smackdown vs. Raw, EA Chicago, Pinball FX's new free table, and the easiest 1000 achievement points ever.
