107 - 08/05/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Resident Evil Racism, Feds Arrest Mod Chippers
posted on August 9, 2007 at 09:40 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

I apologize for the audio quality and other audio issues in the show. The reason it took most of the week is because the initial recording was bad of the live show. I cleaned it up as much as I could, but it's not as good as I'd like it, and it's also encoded at a funky bitrate compared to my other shows. Anyway, first we begin with a correction about our statement on HDTV's last week. A blogger has declared Resident Evil 5 racist, even though she doesn't know anything about games (or the fact that the game isn't made in America) - does the pulling out of the race card on RE5 diminish the true issues that still exist today with regards to racism? U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided the homes of people who installed mod chips. Contrary to what Peter Moore said, you will NOT be playing Grand Theft Auto IV this holiday season. Is the PS3 to blame? GameTap has gotten the entire Codemasters library - including DiRT and Overlord - on their service. Viva Pinata is coming out for the DS...Is this Microsoft's way of saying they're not entering the handheld market? Then we take some emails on Nintendo and good books to read on video game history. Then we take calls about EGM's Warhawk review taking price into account, chiptune composition (with an oldschool tracker/demoscene flavor) and Halo 3's new weapons and armor.

106 - 07/29/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Disc Size vs. Gameplay, EA Admits To Hardware Fanboyism
posted on July 30, 2007 at 04:55 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

We had an amazing experience with our PS3 - we upgraded our firmware without leaving the couch! We also discuss the extremely large Heavenly Sword demo and wonder why developers today have bloated code - includes reminiscing about the Demoscene of old and what they could accomplish on old PC's and Amiga computers with a filesize no larger than a floppy. We talk about the Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay trailer as well as warn people away from Wing Commander Arena. CBS Sports aired the first episode of the World Series of Video Games - and it wasn't that bad! Electronic Arts is no longer #1 in third party sales - that's Activision - and the CEO believes that they were hardware fanboys and that's why they lost their place. If you head to Circuit City (in the US) this week you can take part in a sale on Xbox Live Accessories that are $20 off if you buy two accessories of $20 or more - including points cards! The Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player's price was reduced and you can also get 5 free movies. Then we talk about the acceptance of HDTV's and then about the term "Hardcore Gamer" and why it sucks.

105 - 07/22/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Controversial Footballs and Game Engines
posted on July 24, 2007 at 05:35 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

First off, big thanks to The Blue Skittle for featuring us in Issue #2 of their gaming webzine. Nothing says July like Football, as two new games have come out - and we glitched one of them! We rant a little bit more about Rock Band's drum peripheral - this time explaining how we screwed up the game for everyone else due to poor placement of a button. A leap in logic has been made by a financial newspaper angry about a possible scenario in All Pro Football 2K8 - Is it just because it's Take Two Interactive that publishes it? Too Human developer Silicon Knights is suing Epic Games over gimped Unreal Engine 3 technology - we look at the lawsuit and try to paruse the legalese. Peter Moore has decided that Northern California is where he wants to be and has left Microsoft to head up EA Sports. Then we discuss some interesting things about Guitar Hero III such as who will most likely sue them and why, as well as a misspoken marketing representative that almost gave us the biggest scoop of E3. We then take calls about Burnout Paradise, the Casual Game Summit, and long RPG's for the DS.

104 - 07/15/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - E3 2007 Wrapup, Burnout Paradise Interview
posted on July 16, 2007 at 06:20 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

It's our E3 2007 wrap-up show, and via a loophole we actually got in. We discuss why E3 took place at all in Santa Monica, and what it may mean for E For All this year and even E3 in the future. We take a look at the press conferences, and mention Sony's bait-and-switch with discontinuing the price dropped PS3 that was announced last week. Then we go over some games - Beautiful Katamari, Project Gotham Racing 4, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Ghost Squad (with Wii Zapper), Stranglehold, Everyday Shooter (yes, the IGF winner), and Rock Band. What did we think of the drum controller after playing it four times? Then we have an interview with Matt Webster, producer of Burnout Paradise, to talk about the amazing strides in online multiplayer and other features that are being introduced into the Burnout series. Then we take calls about other lesser known games that callers felt should have gotten more coverage, Sony not having any good press, and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. We also discuss Bobby Blackwolf's appearence on the ad for Bonus Round on Gametrailers.com as well as On10.net's Show Floor Wrapup video currently available on Xbox Live Marketplace. (I get more airtime than a FRAG DOLL!)

103 - 07/08/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - PS3 Price Drop, 360 Warranty, E3 Preview
posted on July 9, 2007 at 04:10 AM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

Y HALO THAR JOYSTIQ'S PODCAST RODEO. E3 is coming up, and we'll be...somewhere near it, kinda sorta. During the live broadcast, the PS3 was rumored to be making a price drop of $100, which Sony denied. An hour later, during the editing, Sony issued a press release stating that the price drop has arrived. Microsoft announced that they would have a three-year warranty for Xbox 360's that fail due to the red rings of death. Videos were leaked from an early showing of Rock Band that showed...something disappointing. Hopefully the drum peripheral really IS just an early prototype! We then talk about Mother 3 getting a major fan translation, the Sony vs. Church of England saga, and the upcoming football games. We also take calls about E3 and what happened in the UK to ECTS, Nintendo and the "hardcore game", and why Tecmo doesn't care for the new E3.
