It's huge, it's long, and it's got one of the most annoying guest hosts in podcasting history. (It's up to you to decide which one it is!) Kropotkin, Hendrix, and Clicky the Pen (??!!) join Bobby Blackwolf in looking back at 2007 month by excruciating month, describing trends and examining things that you may have forgotten about from early in the year. But first, we do discuss the current Xbox Live downtime (and why it may not be as easy to fix as just "throwing more money at it") as well as our impressions of Eye of Judgment on the PS3. It's the longest episode we've ever done - and this proves why we try to stay at under an hour each week. Hope you had a great new year, and here's to 2008!
Hope everyone had a good holiday. This is the episode from Christmas Eve Eve - it was delayed due to the holidays and then being hit driving home the day after Christmas when I had planned to edit. (Nothing major, everyone's okay.) I can't wait for 2008 to begin. * We tested the Burnout Paradise demo's online modes with the same people on the 360 and the PS3 - and the results may come as a surprise. * EA has sent us the list of games we can choose from for our free game due to Rock Band's guitars not shipping on time. * We also got our 500 Microsoft Points for being a founding member, along with an exclusive gamerpic (constantly referred to as "gamertag" during the live show for some strange reason.) * Sony has taken the next step in their PS3/PSP integration, along with including an Internet Radio Player on the PSP, which you can use to listen to All Games Radio. * Hell froze over when a teaser for Duke Nukem Forever was released this week. * The ESA announced that E3 2008 will be once again held in the Los Angeles Convention Center, however it will not be like the E3's of old. * Teenagers committed a gruesome crime and then blamed it on a video game from 1991 - and people are buying into it. * Then we ask - what was the big winner this holiday season for gaming? * We also take calls about Microsoft announcing while we were on the air that they were allowing people to gift MS Points, and then about the various conventions occurring in 2008.
* The Burnout Paradise demo has hit both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network Store, so are we still as hyped about it as we were? * We finish our Rock Band saga in terms of getting new instruments (for now) but is Harmonix, Activision, or Sony the guilty party in terms of a patch for the PS3 version? * Look out English teachers, w00t is now a recognized word in the English language! * Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft answers several pressing questions about Xbox Live, including rationale behind the 100 friends limit. * Nintendo is planning on pulling Wii ads for the holiday season to be "responsible." * They're also offering rain checks at Gamestop on December 20th and 21st. * Then we take calls on the Burnout series in general and Paradise in particular.
* This week we begin with a followup on Gerstmann-gate, straight from Gamespot. * Then we look into Gametap's removal of 70+ games from their catalog via an official post on their message boards. * Then we take a look at two Playstation Network downloadable titles - Beats (PSP) and Pain (PS3). * Check out our Youtube video of this show's theme song playing in Beats! * We also discuss what a bitch it is to download a PSP game off of the PC-based Playstation Store. * The Xbox 360 Dashboard update is out, and has some nice features. * This show was recorded leading up to the SpikeTV Video Game Awards, so our discussion topic (along with the Bobby Blackwolf Show debut of DerrickH as himself) is about awards - do you trust them or not?
* We begin by updating you on our Rock Band struggles - we were offered a free game by EA due to the lateness of the shipment of our replacement instrument, but the email stated the wrong instrument. * Vivendi has purchased Activision to create the new company Activision Blizzard. * And then, the meat of the show is devoted to the recent dismissal of Gamespot's Jeff Gerstmann, allegedly due to advertiser pressure from Eidos over his review for Kane & Lynch. We take a lot of great callers discussing if game reviews are valid and who to trust. * Afterwards we do discuss the Xbox Live 2007 Fall Update set to drop on February 4th. * Also, we receive early indication from a chatter that Gametap is losing 70 games on December 11th...More to come on that one next week!
