084 - 02/25/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - IGF Preview Part 1, European PS3 Gimping
posted on February 26, 2007 at 02:05 AM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

We attempted to purchase something from the PlayStation Store, but it was such a hassle - but we just kept with the fl0w and were finally successful. This week, a demo for PC RTS Supreme Commander came out - did it run on our hardware and did we like it? Nintendo is adding two new consoles to the Virtual Console service in Japan. Sony is gimping the European PS3's by taking out the PS1 and PS2 hardware that assisted in backwards compatability. We then take a look at some of the nominees for the 2007 Independent Game Festival including: Bubble Islands, Gamma Bros, Samorost2, Toribash, Toblo, Racing Pitch, and Roboblitz. More titles to be looked at next week! We also took calls about the PS3 backwards compatability and Supreme Commander.

083 - 02/18/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Everybody Votes That We Mute The A-Hole
posted on February 19, 2007 at 05:15 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

Wii Play came out this week, how much is it worth? The "Everybody Votes Channel" was silently introduced to the Wii, and there are people out there who find that it's the symbol of everything that's wrong with Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't seem against to putting Japan only games on the US Virtual Console...We'll see! Guitar Hero II will break downloadable content records on the 360...Sounds expensive. Silent Hill is coming to arcades, but wouldn't that make it, oh, NOT SILENT HILL? We take calls about online multiplayer on the Wii and piracy. This then reminds us we completely skipped the planned story about muting a-holes in Halo 3. Next week, we start talking about the finalists of the 2007 Independent Games Festival! Check out our website for the link to the YouTube video of Stage Debut, the GameCube tech demo mentioned during tonight's show - complete with Bobby Blackwolf dancing with Mario, Luigi, and Bowser!

082 - 02/11/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Sony's $1200 Challenge and Old Spice Achievements
posted on February 13, 2007 at 03:00 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

We are back live (sorry about the time it took to get the podcast up) and we talk about how much we hated EA Replay on the PSP and how much we like Hotel Dusk on the DS and Sam & Max on the PC. 2K Sports has announced a football game called All-Pro Football 2K8 - but will we care without the NFL license? Sony's Jack Tretton offers an interviewer $1200 for each unsold PS3 he can find on store shelves...We play the game too and daydream at how rich we would be after visiting just one store. Old Spice Deodorant thinks you stink and wants to give you stuff if you continue being an achievement whore on Xbox Live. Battlestar Galactica is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, but whatever happened to the Babylon 5 game that Sierra was doing ages ago? Gears of War pretty much swept the AIAS awards, probably because Capcom wasn't invited. Then we take calls about Super ACiD Block Attack, finding a PS3 on shelves, Bonus Round on Gametrailers talking about game rentals and used games, Mass Effect, and Guitar Hero on the Wii and DS.

081 - 02/04/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Tom Kim from GDC Radio
posted on February 5, 2007 at 01:10 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

In a special prerecorded edition of the show, we invite Tom Kim from GDC Radio to talk about game development, game industry greed, and award show greed. Some topics we cover are certain genres of the game industry passing us by, game design concerns in terms of gameplay conventions, game engine concerns, and if graphics actually matter. Plus, an online retailer has stopped selling games because they believe the game industry is greedy, which segued into a discussion about experiences in gaming retail. Also, Capcom has blasted the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences for their "pay to play" policy of giving an award to Dead Rising and Okami. All that and much more stream of conciousness talk are on this longer-than-usual big-game edition!

080 - 01/28/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - PS3 Pricing, Gold Farmers Thwarted
posted on January 29, 2007 at 05:30 PM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

The Wii got new downloadable content that people had been waiting on for a while - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the Wii News Channel, which had some surprising stories on the first day it was up. An update on the XNA project - a fully playable prototype has been completed of a card game, once menus and scoring are added, the PC version will be available as a download. Harmonix has announced that they are doing a new rhythm game franchise, and calls the Guitar Hero franchise limiting. The Wii will be getting original content, but NOT under the Virtual Console moniker. eBay has stopped allowing virtual items to be sold on the site, thwarting gold farmers everywhere. Sony has announced the PS3 launch date and price for Europe - and it's a whopper. A Japanese retailer has LOWERED the price of the cheaper PS3 for a limited time. Also, prices for the PS3 in Canada have been changed - but a caller tells us that it was by retailers, and not by Sony. We also take calls about Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, the lack of bots in Halo 3, and the lack of soccer on the PS3. There will be no LIVE show next week due to the big football game, however there will still be new prerecorded content on the podcast feed.
