047 - Bobby Blackwolf Show - Week of June 11, 2006
posted on June 12, 2006 at 04:30 AM in The Bobby Blackwolf Show

There was a summit this week to discuss convincing the advertising industry to come visit the gaming industry - is that what the gamers really want? A magazine leaked prices for upcoming Xbox Live Marketplace content, including Lumines Live. If you are still having problems with Oblivion crashing on the Xbox 360, try clearing your cache with a feature from the new Dashboard update. The FTC has finished their investigation of Hot Coffee, and the spoiler for this part of the show is that it's a slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again!" A new board game coming out has Nintendo franchises represented - will you be playing it on your dining room table next month? Pricing for the Wii's virtual console has been announced, and more about the Wii/DS connectivity. Shades of the GBA/Gamecube connectivity abound. The PS3 will have the PS2 chipset in the box at launch, with the hopes of removing it later on in the PS3's lifespan. But the PS3 is apparently a computer anyway, so it's okay. And finally, the UK Serious Games Event was pranked by an anti-corporate activist group - who do they not like and why? The next generation of Allgames.com has arrived - check it out at Allgames.com.

We basked in the glory of a Rated E game from Rockstar, then realized we were having fun playing Table Tennis! The DS Lite is out in some big box retailers - check yours if you just can't wait. Will your Wii become a DS Download station that downloads games while you sleep? Iwata says so! Mark Wolfe and his wife April call in to discuss House of the Dead 4 in the arcades, the Philadelphia performance of Video Games Live, and about gaming not being taken as seriously as movies, music, or books. We miss our Intellivision after that conversation. There's a Nintendo Amusement Park being proposed that will have you jumping for joy mechanically. Will that mean that a gamer might become an Olympic medalist in 2008? Sony has stated that they don't need a PC - they have the PS3. We wonder what the Vaio team thinks of that. Microsoft has a portable coming, but when? They also have a camera for the Xbox 360 coming, and that's on September 19th. Infinium Labs has changed their compay name to Phantom Entertainment to mimic their business strategy, and it's probably the first truthful thing they've ever done. We then read some emails about a comedy group doing a gaming skit about Myspace, and a website that will assist you in playing the Japanese version of R2Beat Online.

Last week, we said outrageous things, but only got feedback on one of them. Which one was it? Nintendo announces everyone's favorite marketing director became a President, and everyone's favorite console name has a price point. Kropotkin calls in from the UK to talk about the European side of things, and to brag about being able to get a jet black DS Lite. Does Sony want to stop second hand game sales? Another publisher drops Starforce. We air E3 interviews about the PSP game Work Time Fun (WTF?) and the PC game R2Beat Online. We discuss our first impressions of the recently released Beggar Prince for the Sega Genesis...Was it worth the $46? Xbox 360 owners are getting a nice dashboard update with features everyone has been clamoring for. And Nokia releases a new service called the N-Gage Service that nobody has been clamoring for. Catch Bobby Blackwolf on the 100th episode of the Video Games Show!

We jump right out of the gate and talk about Super Columbine Massacre RPG and wonder why there's as much outrage about it when there are countless movies, TV documentaries, and books about the exact same subject. We then also wonder why there's so much outrage over the fact that the Wii devkits at E3 were housed in black Gamecube cases. Xbox Live claims to be the biggest provider of on-demand high definition content because of their E3: Bringing It Home campaign. We air interviews from E3's Kentia Hall with Playseats and Sandio Technology's Game-O 3D Mouse, as well as a special appearence by Charles Martinet exclusive to The Bobby Blackwolf Show! Is GestureTek the surprise story of E3, allowing the PS3 and the Xbox 360 to allow the same gaming experience as the Wii? And speaking of that PS3, is the Crappy PS3 (the cheaper one) really not as upgradeable as initially rumored? And will five million people buy it even if Sony releases NO games for it at launch like Sony Europe thinks? We end by discussing the next generation of the Allgames.com website, and we're seeking contributors to be on our staff.

We broadcasted live from the E3 Outpost (Arena Interactive Lounge)in West Los Angeles on Day 3 of E3 with several affiliates of All Games Radio. We are joined throughout the broadcast by Wilcox and George from GamerAndy Live, Loki, DarkSakura, and Skie from Orange Lounge Radio, Lawrence Young, Scot Rubin, and Redmond Carolipio from All Games Interactive, and a surprise appearance by Alon from Chatterbox Video Game Radio and his pimped out ride. We go through categories suggested by Allgames.com forum members such as Best game using a non-traditional controller, Game RPGesus would most likely buy, and Best Final Fantasy XII game. The show is raw and unedited (a first!) and concludes with the announcement of why Friday was a special day not just because it was the last day of E3...
